World War 1
Many of our beloved soldiers went to fight in many countries. Boys lied about their age to travel and they were confronted with death, infection and disorder. Our men died to honor our country. 8,709 men alone in Gallipoli died. Many more were injured mentally and physically. Men developed shell shock (man in the bottom left of the picture above). One of the major symptoms is the "thousand-yard stare" (the man above on the suffers from these symptoms).
